Malcolm Streitfeld (a/k/a “The Bard of Tecumseh”) broke two fingers in his right/dominant hand. One would think this would jeopardize his daily historical Instagram /Facebook posts. NOT! No break!)) Using his left hand, he is composing short, exquisite poems on the topic of the day. Samples below, Dad still kvelling.

Interlude 4
Rosy sunset, disappearing Eden
Thaw will collapse their homes
Inuit and Yupiit and countless others
Roam a flourishing Arctic where
polar bears and narwhals also abound
The time to act is not ten or
twenty years from now. It is now
Before this sanctuary becomes
A bloody battleground
Torn apart for its oil
What will we do if
the last haven
untainted by industry
is lost forever?
If there are no
more eyes to
look upon the sacred
frost of this treasured land?
Inspired by an Everything Everywhere Daily episode. The photo, from the NOAA website, shows a polar bear in the middle of what used to be a vast expanse of sea ice.
